Come join us! We are hiring an CHILD LIFE SPECIALIST to join our Team:
FT - 40 hrs/week + benefits
The Child Life Specialist increases the capacity of the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) to carry out its mission by providing culturally competent and developmentally appropriate services to child victims who visit the Center, by monitoring child behavior and emotional responses, by providing behavioral intervention and support, and by communicating significant findings to the other members of the Multidisciplinary Team.
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS in Child Development, Family and Child Studies or Child Life
- Must be eligible for professional certification by the Child Life Commission within 6 months of hire date. Fully certified Child Life Specialist strongly preferred.
- Direct experience (paid or internship) working with abused children and their families
- Proficient knowledge of child development and related dynamics
- Familiarity with forensic interviewing protocols and procedures
- Skilled in handling sensitive issues in a mature, confidential manner and with integrity and compassion; high level of discretion
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to family systems and child victimization
- Knowledge of the overall child protection and legal system
- Ability to work with children and their families in stressful situations
- Ability to work well with a variety of disciplines and function within team environment
- Excellent communication, mediation, and problem solving skills
- Organizational skills to independently manage workload and related responsibilities
- Flexibility of schedule to suit Center’s needs
- Computer literacy in order to maintain and produce statistical records, internal and external correspondence, and multidisciplinary reports
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, clear criminal background
