Providing Support for Non-Offending Caregivers: Trauma impacts the entire family—and no one should have to navigate it alone

When a child experiences abuse or trauma, the effects extend far beyond the individual child. Non-offending caregivers are often left navigating overwhelming emotions while also trying to support their child’s healing and maintain stability at home. At the Gingerbread House Children’s Advocacy Center, we recognize the critical role caregivers play in a child’s recovery, and we are here to support them every step of the way.

Our Family Advocacy Program is designed to walk alongside non-offending caregivers during one of the most difficult times in their lives. We proudly serve families in Northwest Louisiana by providing guidance, resources, and compassionate support tailored to each family’s unique needs. Our advocates help caregivers understand the investigative and healing process, connect them to community resources, and ensure they feel informed, empowered, and supported.

We also understand that many families face additional challenges, such as financial strain, food insecurity, or lack of access to basic necessities. To help ease these burdens, we work to provide essential items and referrals to trusted community partners allowing caregivers to focus on what matters most – supporting their child.

You don’t have to face this alone—we’re here to help.
