Forensic Interviews

A forensic interview is a non-biased, fact-finding interview that

is conducted in a child centered environment observed by law enforcement investigators. These interviews are recorded and used as evidence for court proceedings.

Child Life Services

We are proud to offer the only

Child Life Program at a Children’s Advocacy Center in the state of Louisiana where our specialists work to lessen the anxiety of the child victims prior to their interview, medical exam, or even court hearing.

Family Advocacy

Trauma affects the whole family and the Gingerbread House is here to support the non-offending caregivers of every child victim with resources and referrals to other agencies, sign-ups for our internal outreach programs, or even just a listening ear.

Pediatric Forensic Medical Exams

Specialized medical evaluation focused on accessing and
documenting injuries, gathering forensic evidence, and providing
appropriate medical care for children and teens experiencing trauma
related to possible abuse or human trafficking.

Multidisciplinary Team Investigations

We work together alongside 26 agencies, including law enforcement investigators and DCFS, to help child victims feel safe and heard throughout the entire investigation, prosecution, and treatment phases of cases.

Anti-Human Trafficking Care Coordination

Our Care Coordinator is trained to work with human trafficking victims within 24-to-48 hours alongside an emergency response team in order to provide victims with immediate assistance and resources.

Trauma-Informed Counseling

Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy and other interventions are offered for child victims and their non-offending caregivers at the Gingerbread House by Licensed Master Social Workers at no cost to the victim’s family.

Prevention Education and Training

Knowledge is Power(c) empowers children and adults to stand up for themselves (or the children around them) and speak out against actions or words that make them feel unsafe. We teach on a variety of topics including body safety, internet safety, safe relationships.
